'Looney Tunes' Comes to Blu-Ray

Warner Bros. released information today regarding this fall's upcoming Looney Tunes Platinum Collection: Volume 1 Blu-ray DVD. I wasn't sure what to expect when I heard they were putting previously released Looney Tunes shorts on Blu-ray, but I was sold when I discovered there were a few new-to-DVD cartoons like "Hasty Hare", "Hare-Way to the Stars", "A Witch's Tangled Hare" and "Feline Frame-Up". Plus, there is an amazingly awesome collector's edition for a great price on It will exciting to see these cartoons in such great quality for the first time ever. It will be released on November 15, 2011 so mark the date on your calendars. You got about a year to watch it before we all die in December 2012.

  1. I've heard some complaints that they should release the whole back catalog methodically in chronological order. I understand why film historians or die-hard Looney Tunes completists might want that. . .

    For ordinary casual fans (such as myself), I think Warner Bros. are doing it exactly right. A generous "best of" collection with a mix of characters is gold to me. Or platinum, even. I've already put in my pre-order. I just hope they're nicely restored and shown in the correct aspect ratio.

    Now if they could just get the Duck Dodgers series and The (new) Looney Tunes Show out on disc, all will be right with the world.

  2. 'The Looney Tunes Show' is coming out on DVD later this year, but unfortunately they are only releasing four episodes on DVD at a time.
